Many that know me would say I am very ambitious and like to do everything the hard way. It's no exception in quilting or my quilting journey. The very first quilt I made was a Grandmother’s Flower Garden quilt. It is what got me hooked on quilting! I loved making the quilt so much and I had so much fun hand stitching all the EPP hexagon flowers together. After I finished the quilt, I felt so accomplished. But it took me 3 years from start to finish to complete the quilt while weaving it into my daily life. I found myself eager to start another one, but couldn't help but to feel a little intimidated by the thought of having to make all those hexagon flowers again. Anyone that has ever made one knows that it's a true labor of love. At that point, I was ready to move on to something simpler or something with a quick win. In 2019, I learned how to machine piece, then didn’t make another hexagon flower until late 2023.
Who doesn't love a fun panel?
When I was designing my first-ever fabric collection, Flower Girl for Moda Fabrics, I knew I wanted the entire collection to be based around my love of flowers. I also knew I wanted to bring back those lovely little hexagon flowers somehow. I noticed that many people love the look of the hexagon flowers, but are also intimidated by making them, which is why I decided to design a hexagon flower panel in my Flower Girl collection. This panel offers so many possibilities for fun projects and quilts. All you have to do is cut them out and sew them into a quilt. Easy peasy!
The Flower Girl Hexagon Flower Panel includes 12 Hexagon Flowers colored in my favorite prints from the Flower Girl collection. The hexagons are to scale and are 1.5” hexagons. The panel comes with dashed lines separating the hexagon flowers so they can be trimmed into 9.5” squares and be ready for any project. Whether you cut them up to make pot holders, pillows, or quilts, these hexagon flowers save you time and frustration.
Be sure to check with your favorite local quilt shops to see if they will be carrying the Flower Girl Hexagon Flower Panels for you to use in your projects.
One day, the panels will be no longer available, which is why I decided to design the hexagon flowers to scale using 1.5” hexagons. The patterns also come with instructions for making the hexagon flowers using a hand-pieced EPP method.
I designed two free PDF patterns for you to use the Flower Girl Hexagon Flower Panel. Check them out below:
