It's time for another round of Blockheads and this time is extra special. I’m so excited to announce that I am a new Blockheads designer for Blockheads 5. Yep, you read that right! I could not be more excited to be bringing you adorable star blocks alongside your favorite Moda designers. This is the first year I have ever participated in Blockheads and I’m jumping for joy! My block, Starling, releases in March. I’ll be sure to share all about it when it releases. I don't sew star blocks often, so this is a nice change of pace. I cannot wait to see how my finished quilt shapes up. Will you be joining me for Blockheads 5?
The new round of Blockheads 5 kicked off Wednesday January 3rd and runs until the end of July with a total of 30 star blocks in 6” and 12” sizes. Block 1: Dream Big
The Dream Big was designed by the fabulous Sherri McConnell of A Quilting Life. I loved how this block went together. The instructions saved a ton of fabric and were written incredibly well. Don’t forget to share your beautiful Dream Big block over on social media using #modablockheads.
My Quilt Plan:
This may be my first time participating in Blockheads, but I’m no stranger to a fun scrappy sampler quilt. I’m so excited to make all my blocks and get my quilt put together. I designed three different setting options for my Blockheads quilt. I just can't decide which one to go with. I’m planning on making both 6” and 12” blocks depending on the difficulty. Although, I am kinda feeling up to the challenge of making all 6” blocks. Maybe I should make 2 quilts! Check out the three quilt settings I designed. Oh, and did I mention, they are FREE settings. Star Dance uses 29 blocks total. 5 - 12" blocks and 24 - 6" blocks. The quilt finishes at 60" x 60".
Diamond Twist uses 36 - 6" blocks. Make 6 duplicate round 2 blocks or use 6 blocks from round 1. The quilt finishes at 72" x 72".
Star Struck uses 30 blocks. 6 - 12" blocks and 24 - 6" blocks. The quit finishes at 59" x 79"
Reminder, you will need the weekly blocks to complete the settings. The settings do not have block patterns. Fabric requirements that are provided are just additional fabrics you will need to complete the settings, not the blocks.

I’m using my new Flower Girl fabric collection for Moda Fabrics for my Blockheads quilt. I plan to use a majority of my low volume fabrics as my background.
