It’s 2026, and you know what that means—a brand-new BOM (Block of the Month)! 🎉

Are you ready for a fun, themed BOM? I know I am! I’ve been so excited to share this one with you, and the wait is finally over. I’ll admit, I’m a little nervous—this is the first time in three years that I haven’t done a traditional monthly themed BOM. I wanted to try something a little different, and I hope you love it as much as I do!

Now introducing the 2026 Year of Strawberries BOM—a quilt that’s yummy, sweet, and almost good enough to eat (okay, not actually eat 😉), but we are going to be sewing something sweet this year! This BOM kicks off on January 9, 2026, and runs all year long.

Theme

This year’s theme is all about strawberries, and I couldn’t be more excited! I love strawberries—not only to eat, but they’re also some of my favorite quilt blocks to make. Each month, you’ll create a different strawberry-themed block that’s so sweet you won’t be able to stand it!

Note: This year we’re trying something a little different. We will not have a monthly themed quilt, meaning each month will not focus on a separate theme. Instead, the overall quilt theme is strawberries, and each month you’ll receive a new strawberry-themed block pattern to add to your quilt.

Quilt Details

• Size: 57” x 76”

• 12 Blocks

• Block Size: 12.5” x 14.5” unfinished

• All traditionally machined pieced

• Smallest Piece: 0.75” unfinished - not very many!

• Fully colored step-by-step patterns

• 1 Finishing Option as of now - although, I may come out with another option.

Finishing Pattern

You’ll get to preview the finishing layout upfront! This helps you see how the quilt will come together.

Quilt Layout:

• The12 blocks are set three per shelf with sashing between the blocks, then framed with a fun border that alternates low-volume prints and a blue print, with 9-patch blocks in the corners. Simple, yet it brings the quilt together nicely. Sweet and simple layout, with beautiful detailed blocks.

Fabric Requirements

I love to use my yearly BOMs as a stash buster, and this one is no exception. I pulled all of my favorite greens, pinks, reds, low volumes, aquas, and blues for this quilt. The 2026 BOM quilt is perfect for using up scraps or fat quarter bundles with a wide variety of colors.

My Plan for this BOM:

I’m so excited to dive into this BOM and wanted to share my plans for how I’ll be making my quilt! As I write this blog post, I’m sitting in my brother’s cabin in the woods because we’re in the process of moving. I don’t have all of my fabric photos or my first block made yet to show you, but I’ll add those as soon as they’re ready.

Blocks: For my quilt, I mentioned that I’ll be using a mix of pinks, reds, greens, aquas, and low-volume prints to bring my blocks to life. I gathered my favorite prints from Lighthearted, Summertime, and other Camille Roskelley collections, along with Sheri & Chelsi prints and Fig Tree Eyelet prints. Here are some of the prints I’ll be using in my quilt:

Border Print: I haven’t decided yet on which blue print or low-volume print I’ll use for the border, but I’ll be sure to share once I do!

Shelf Sashing Print: I’m either using a solid brown or the brown Eyelet fabric by Fig Tree for the shelves in each block—I haven’t quite decided yet. The good news is, you don’t have to decide yet either! You can wait until you’ve finished a few blocks or even wait until the end before making that decision. Since my fabrics aren’t right in front of me at the moment, I thought it would be best to wait.

Background: I loved using a white-on-white fabric in my 2025 Year of Sewing Machines BOM quilt, so I decided to use another white-on-white for my background this year. I’ll be using Coriander Seeds White 29149-11 (a white-on-white print with tiny dots—see the photo below) by Corey Yoder for my background. It adds just a bit of extra texture, and I think it will look so cute with the strawberry-themed blocks.

The good news is this print is a basic and should be available at your local quilt shop, or it can be ordered for you through Moda. I also picked up a few extra bolts, so if you’d like to purchase your background fabric directly from me, you can do so below.

General Questions

1. What is a BOM (Block of the Month)?

A BOM is a monthly quilt-along program where participants receive instructions for one quilt block each month. By the end of the program, you’ll have all the blocks needed to complete a full quilt!

2. How does this BOM work?

Each month, you’ll receive a new block pattern that’s available to download from the Main Hub (for bundle purchasers) or for individual purchase in my shop. At the end of the year, you’ll also receive finishing instructions to assemble the quilt.

3. What skill level is this BOM designed for?

This BOM is beginner-friendly, with a mix of larger pieces and a few smaller, detailed sections. Detailed instructions are included, and optional embroidery or appliqué techniques can be substituted for smaller pieces if desired.

Purchasing Options

5. What’s the difference between the Preorder Bundle and Monthly Purchase options?

• Preorder Bundle: Pay upfront for the entire BOM and save 25% from January 1 - 9, 2026! Includes exclusive access to the Main Hub, where you can download blocks anytime, plus free finishing and backing block patterns. If you preorder the bundle after 1/9/26 it will only be 15% or less off.

• Monthly Purchase: Buy each block individually as it’s released. This option does not include Main Hub access, and blocks must be downloaded when purchased. This option is more expensive

6. If I preorder the bundle, will I get all the blocks at once?

No, blocks are released monthly according to the schedule listed in the post. The January block will be available January 9, 2026 at 11 AM EST, and subsequent blocks will be released on the dates provided.

7. Can I switch from the monthly purchase option to the bundle later?

Unfortunately, no. The preorder bundle is only available at the discounted price until January 9, 2026.

8. Are refunds available?

No. Due to the digital nature of this BOM, there are no refunds once your purchase is complete. Please review the details carefully before purchasing.

Accessing Blocks & Downloads

9. How do I access my blocks?

• Bundle Purchasers: Blocks will be available in the Main Hub on the release dates listed in the schedule. You’ll also receive an email reminder each month.

• Monthly Purchasers: Blocks will be emailed to the address you provide at checkout.

10. What if I don’t receive my monthly email?

If you don’t receive your email, check your spam or junk folder first. If you still can’t find it, please reach out to customerservice@mysewquiltylife.com so we can resend it to you.

11. Can I download the blocks more than once?

Yes! Bundle purchasers can download blocks from the Main Hub as many times as needed. For monthly purchasers, we recommend downloading and saving the files immediately after purchase.

Fabric & Supplies

12. What fabric do I need for this BOM?

This BOM is scrap-friendly! It’s great for stash busting or using fat quarters. If you’re using a fabric collection, you’ll need:

• 16–24Fat Quarters for the blocks

• Additional fabric for background, sashing, and borders (see the fabric requirements chart for more details).

13. Will there be fabric kits available?

No, I won’t be offering full fabric kits for this BOM, but I will have a few starter FQ bundles and background sets. I’m using fabrics from my stash—primarily Moda Fabrics—but you’re welcome to use any collection or scraps you have on hand.

14. What if I run out of fabric during the BOM?

Since this is a stash-friendly project, you can mix and match fabrics from your collection. Feel free to swap colors or substitute prints to make it your own!
