The 2025 Year of Sewing Machines is officially over! I have to say, I really miss those cute little sewing machine blocks each month—don’t you? This blog post is definitely way overdue, especially since we’re already in March 2026. This past year has been so full with surgery, the holidays, moving, and more. I always think I have way more time than I actually do—do you have that problem too? Maybe it’s not even a problem… but if it isn’t, I don’t know what to call it!
Keep reading to learn more about the 2025 Year of Sewing Machines BOM, the free sashing and setting patterns, the BOM winners, and more!
About the BOM:
The 2025 Year of Sewing Machines BOM was my yearly BOM for 2025. Each month, participants received a different sewing machine block along with a 6” themed companion block. If participants purchased the pattern bundle, they also received a bonus free 6” finished star block pattern in case they preferred not to make a themed quilt. Each sewing machine design was completely unique, alternating between vintage-inspired styles and more modern machines. It was so much fun designing these blocks for you and seeing how you brought them to life.
In addition to the blocks, each yearly BOM includes a free setting, and this year’s setting was especially unique. The quilt features three sewing machines sitting on scalloped shelves, with adorable sashing details like pin bowls, spools, mason jars, and more. It’s finished off with a beautiful scalloped pieced border—this quilt truly was a delight! Be sure to keep reading to grab the free setting and sashing patterns.
The BOM also included monthly giveaways for those who shared their progress on social media. It was such a fun experience, and I truly enjoyed it! From the feedback I received, it sounds like it was one of your favorites too.

My Quilt/Blocks:
Now, let’s talk about my quilt… because it’s not finished yet! I ended up moving right as we wrapped up the BOM in December, and I packed my blocks away thinking I’d remember exactly which box they were in… and nope! I completely forgot. I still haven’t had much time to unpack most of my fabric room, but last week while going through boxes, I finally found them. It honestly felt like Christmas! Now I can finally finish my quilt. I think this was one of the reasons I delayed this post—I felt a little guilty not having my quilt finished—but you’ve waited long enough, so thank you for your patience! You can see all of my blocks below, and I hope to have the full quilt finished soon. Once I do, I’ll be sure to share it!
You can still purchase these blocks either individually or as part of the BOM pattern bundle—that’s one of the best things about my BOMs. All past BOM blocks remain available, so you can jump in anytime and work at your own pace. From 2023 through now, you can start whenever you’d like. Even though the patterns are labeled 2025, nothing in the blocks themselves is dated, so they can be used anytime. You can purchase blocks individually or grab the full bundle for convenience.

Grand Prize Winners:
Now for the winners! First, I want to say thank you so much for your patience—I know it’s hard waiting to find out who won. To be eligible for the grand prize, participants needed to have their quilt top finished and posted on social media by January 29, 2026.
If your post was dated before then, you were entered to win one of two $500 grand prizes.
Congratulations to our two Grand Prize Winners!!!!!!
Luv2quilt4u - Lisa on Instagram

I really love how Lisa made this quilt her own. She changed the sashing blocks to super cute miniature sewing notions. I also love how she used different backgrounds for her blocks and sashing—so clever!!
Kristi Dillard on Facebook

I really love how Kristie coordinated the fabrics for each of her sewing machines to match the monthly theme—that’s brilliant!!
Both went with a scrappy pieced border, and I love how that turned out! It really brings all the colors in the quilt together. I’ll have to do that when I finish my quilt.
Congratulations to both winners, as well as everyone who finished their quilt top!!! I have truly enjoyed seeing all the beautiful BOM quilts.
If you are still working on yours, be sure to share your progress using #2025yearofsewingmachinesbom on social media.
Backing Setting:

One fun thing I include in each BOM is a coordinating backing block and pattern, which is free for participants who purchased the full year. This pattern also includes additional numbers, so if you make it in future years, you’ll have options like 6, 7, and 8. If you haven’t finished your quilt yet, be sure to check out the backing setting!
2026 BOM:

If you loved the 2025 BOM, you’ll be excited to know we’re currently in the 2026 Year of Strawberries BOM! Each month features a new strawberry-themed block. This year, we switched things up—instead of a different theme each month, the entire quilt is centered around strawberries, and it has been so much fun so far.
Be sure to click the link below to check out all the details. You can join by preordering the full pattern bundle or by purchasing each block individually. I hope you will come join us!!
Happy Quilting,
Heather
